About our Taster Days

Here at Bradford College we want to give Year 10 and 11 students the opportunity to come and have a real insight to life at college. We have changed up our School Taster Day visits to now be Curriculum Specific Taster Days. This is going to allow for more in depth visit for the students, a chance to thoroughly meet the course area they have interest in but also get to experience College life as there will be a mix of students from wider schools.

Specific days will be advertised in Winter Term aimed at Year 11 and in Summer Term for Year 10. Please complete our Booking Form below to book students for the specific days, it will be one form per Curriculum area.

*The Taster Days are aimed at Year 10 and 11 and some Year 12 and 13 students only and to be booked through school. However, if you do not fall into this category and are interested please contact [email protected] and we can try accommodate something else.

In this area the courses covered are Construction, Bricklaying, Carpentry, Joinery, Plastering, Plumbing, Electrical engineering and Mechanical engineering. However, on the day some areas may not be available. If any of these are something that you would like to know more about be sure to book onto the Construction and Engineering taster days.

Also known as Bradford School of Art, this department offers courses in the following areas Art & Design, Fashion & Textiles, Film & Television, Games & Graphic Media Design, Music & Performing Arts, Media Makeup & Special Effects and Upholstery & Interior Design. Be sure to come along to the specific taster days if any of these interests you and you want to find out more.

Early Years and Health Care will be hosting a single event together, so if you are unsure which of the two pathways you would like to follow you can attend and get all the information needed to make an informed decision.

Progression to Learning and Work (PLW) offer everything from Entry Level 1 – level 3 in all subjects and Level 1 provision in all subjects except construction and motor vehicle. So these will be present at all other curriculum taster days, so book on by subject you want and you can always talk to a member of the PLW team that day.

Health Sciences, Meditec & Technology delivers the following types of courses Science, Computing, Ophthalmic, Pharmacy and Dental. The department specialises with the School of Science and Pharmacy and School of Ophthalmic and Computing. The facilities are great and worth coming along to see and have a taster in the specific area above. These will be run on separate days to have a Science day and a ICT day.

One of the largest departments in the college offering a whole range of courses in Hair, Barbering, Beauty, Nails & Make up, Sport and Fitness, Business, Travel & Tourism, Uniformed public/protective services, Catering, Law and Accountancy. All these areas will be open to book onto for the Taster day and you can hopefully see more than one area if you are unsure to help make the right decision.

This department covers courses for Teacher Training, Teaching Assistant training and other teaching courses for Higher Education, so they will be available at all other curriculum specific taster days. You can book onto any of the dates and when attending tell a team member that you are interested in knowing more about a teaching pathway and they can arrange for you to go speak to the team.
