This introductory qualification is designed for learners who want to gain an introductory knowledge of working in Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings.

This qualification encourages an understanding of knowledge and skills needed for a career in both childcare and Health and Social Care where you will develop knowledge, skills, confidence and life skills needed to support your future progression n your career choice.

- Communication (where we cover a wide range of communication methods used in all areas of health and social care)
- Service Provision- learning about the many areas within Health and Social Care
- Safe Guarding and Protection of adults, children and young people
- Principles and Values
Entry Requirements
You should have an interest in the subject and have achieved a minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade 2/E or above. Entry Level 3 qualifications with a minimum of Entry 3 in English and Maths are also considered.
Assessment
You will be assessed through a range of methods that include coursework, assignments and presentations.
Work Experience
30 hours of relevant experience of work are included in the course.
Progression
Successful completion of the Level 1 in Health and Social Care can help you embark on a career in a Science related area. The subject can be the beginning of the journey to your career in Health and Social Care, such as becoming an Care Worker, Adult Nurse, Therapist and well as other health related occupations.

If you are 19 years old or over you may need to pay fees for your Further Education studies.
Course fees depend on your age and course level.
You may be exempt from paying fees though, or eligible to pay a reduced fee – known as fee remission.
FE Tuition: £504.00 per academic year
Exam Registration: £51.50
