Ambition [HUB] Showcase end of year celebration at Bradford College

Students take center stage, displaying their year-long employer projects at the Ambition [HUB] Showcase event.

The future is bright for our Ambition Hub students, as they celebrated their achievements at the recent end of year showcase held on the afternoon of Wednesday 12th June 2024.

The afternoon began with a warm welcome and an introduction from Furkan Uddin, Head of Department, followed by an engaging keynote from guest speakers Danny Furness and Sonya Douglas, who are Curriculum and Pathway Leads at SkillsHouse, on the importance of developing transferable skills in today’s job market.

“It’s been an exciting and wonderful day to see so many young people present all their hard work as a part of the Ambition [HUB] programme. The projects the students have worked on with employers have helped them prepare for the job market and have given them the in-demand skills that are needed, which is what Ambition [HUB] is all about.”

Students then had an opportunity to present their year-long projects, with each curriculum department giving an overview of their work throughout the year to an audience of industry professionals, parents, and fellow students.

“Today has been exceptional. We saw students presenting their employer-set projects. The staff, students and employers have worked really well together to create opportunities for our students to develop skills relevant for their industry. What a fantastic experience.”

Furkan Uddin, Head of Professional and Leisure Services

Students on our Sports course tackled disability awareness in sports, showcasing their understanding for inclusivity. Travel and Tourism students presented a project on sustainable practices in their industry, demonstrating their commitment to a greener future. Early Years and Childcare brought their project to life, highlighting their dedication to helping disadvantaged children through their trip to Aruba.

The Software Development (Extended Diploma) students presented a personalised AI teddy bear, designed to combat loneliness and social anxieties in children. Lastly, the Performing Arts department brought together life skills, sustainability, leadership, and teamwork into their performance project.

These diverse projects offered a glimpse into the year-long transformation students underwent, not just in their chosen fields, but in their ability to solve problems, think creatively, and collaborate effectively.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony, where outstanding students were recognised for their exceptional contributions and skill development throughout the year and presented with an award to celebrate their achievements.

Today when I came to the Ambition [HUB] showcase, I was nervous at the start before I had to present in front of everybody, but once I got up on the stage and presented the project we had worked on, I felt proud of what we did for the past year.

What I’ve learnt from today and throughout is that confidence and teamwork skills really matter for the future.

Danish Zubair, Software Development (Extended Diploma)

The day closed with a huge thank you to the incredible employer partners that have worked with the staff and students which include Bradford Bulls, The Great Victoria Hotel, CTE, Better Start Bradford, EXA Network Dance United and The Royal Shakespeare Company.
