  Overview

This programme is a short course, delivered as part of a longer programme of a longer HNC or can be completed as a standalone module.  It is delivered through blended learning which means a combination of face to face and online delivery sessions.

This unit aims to provide students with a comprehensive
understanding of computer networking essentials, including operations,
protocols, standards, security considerations, and prototypes of various
networking technologies. Students will examine a variety of hardware and
related software, learning to configure and install these to understand
networking systems.

The unit covers a broad spectrum of networking technologies
to impart fundamental knowledge of Local Area Networking (LAN), Wide Area Networking
(WAN), and their evolution into large-scale networks. Additionally, students
will explore IP data network protocols.

By the end of this unit, students will have acquired the
knowledge and skills necessary to install, operate, and troubleshoot small
networks, including the functioning of IP data networks, routers, switching
