This course is for qualified teachers (Level 5 or equivalent) who want to teach English, ESOL or Literacy but lack specific training in these areas. The program will:
- Give you a recognised Level 5 specialist teaching qualification in English, ESOL or Literacy.
- Help you understand the theories behind teaching these subjects.
- Develop your skills and confidence to be an ambitious English, ESOL or Literacy teacher.
- Teach you how to be inclusive and promote equal learning for all students.

Applicants should normally have achieved the following prior to registration for the programme: Admissions criteria
- A full teaching qualification (DET or equivalent).
- Confirmation of teaching hours and a suitable mentor.
- Level 3+ subject specific qualification.
- An eligible GCSE/Level 2 Maths and English qualification or equivalency*.
- Relevant experience/prior learning.
- Enhanced DBS and health check, successful interview including an assessment of their language awareness of grammar, vocabulary and phonology to assess readiness for teaching English, ESOL or Literacy.
