  Overview

This course aims to develop your knowledge of various mathematical concepts, including algebra, statistics, geometry, number and shapes. We can offer support at Entry Levels 1- 3, and Entry Level 1. The course takes place at the David Hockney Building. This course is free. Please ask from more information when applying.

The course will develop three key skills:  

  • Number (including fractions, decimals and percentages) 
  • Measures and metrics 
  • Handling Data (including charts and graphs 

Each class lasts for three hours to give you plenty to time to learn, understand and practice your Maths skills. Your attendance for 3 hours (Entry level 1-3) and 2 hours (level 1) each week is mandatory and you must complete additional work outside of class time. 


  Qualification Gained: City and Guilds of London Institute Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics (Entry 1)

You will be given an initial assessment to check your starting point and determine your suitability for this course. 

Assessment of your progress is throughout the course. You will be assessed according to the level of the qualification. This can vary from an internally marked assessment to externally marked exams. 

Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to a higher-level Maths qualification, or any other course that will help you get the job you want, or support your personal development. 

If you are 19 years old or over you may need to pay fees for your Further Education studies.

Course fees depend on your age and course level.

You may be exempt from paying fees though, or eligible to pay a reduced fee – known as fee remission.
