This qualification is ideal if you are considering a career in engineering. You will gain a basic
understanding of engineering principles such as engineering environment
awareness, mathematics and science principles alongside practical elements like: machining operations, welding, fabricating and material handling. All of this
aims to give you the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to progress to
Level 2 or enter the workforce at a basic level.

You will study the following units:
• Working in Engineering
• Welding
• Fabricating
GCSE Maths and English Grade 2
To achieve the Level 1 Certificate in Engineering
candidates must successfully complete both mandatory assessment components.
- An external awarding body exam (one per year)
- An external awarding body set assignment (two per year)
- You must also undertake employer involvement activities
On successful completion candidates can
progress to the Level 2 in Engineering.
