Our Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation provides you with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to begin a career as an installation electrician. The course combines theoretical understanding with practical skills development, preparing you for both further study and workplace readiness.
Like an installation electrician working in a domestic, commercial or industrial environment, you will demonstrate an understanding of electrical scientific principles, the installation of different wiring systems, enclosures and equipment, circuit theory and installation methods, electrical testing procedures and much more. On successful completion of this qualification, you will be at an Improver/Electrician’s mate level.

You will learn about the importance of health and safety in the electrical industry, electrical theories including; Ohm’s Law, power equations, and resistance, the principles of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC), electromagnetic principles and mathematical calculations for electrical installations.
You will also take advantage of learning about green skills and sustainability with a big focus on smart technology, energy efficiency and an awareness of solar pv, electric vehicle charging points and battery storage. There’s never been a better time to train as a modern electrician.

Entry to this course requires GCSE maths and English at a grade 4 as a minimum.
You will undertake online multiple-choice question exams and demonstrate your skills in the electrical workshop and assessment centre. You will be installing a range of wiring systems and enclosures and terminating these to a range of electrical equipment. You will also be demonstrating a range of health and safety techniques including safe isolation, risk assessment, manual handling and the safe use of power tools, ladders and mobile tower scaffolding.
