This course allows you to study the world of business, giving you an opportunity to
develop knowledge and technical skills in a practical learning environment. You will
examine the roles and responsibilities of setting up a new business and its financial
management. You will also develop key skills, such as analysis and review of key
financial statements.
You will
explore different types of business ownership, investigate what businesses do and the language used in the business world. You will learn about the costs involved in business and how businesses make a profit and then plan for success. You will investigate trends and the current business environment and how this might impact on a business plan, before presenting your own model for a business start-up. You’ll also learn about marketing and promotion of your business and how to develop your own brand.
This programme is specifically designed
to develop the skills, experience, knowledge and behaviours to support
progression onto our Level 3 T Level in Business Management and Administration.
This course is a T Level Foundation Year Study Programme which consists of:
Unit 1: Introduction to Business Unit 2: Finance for Business Unit 3: Enterprise in the Business WorldUnit 4: Promoting a Brand
Entry to this course requires 4 GCSEs at a minimum of Grade 4 or above including English and Maths. You will be required to attend an academic interview prior to being offered a place. English and/or Maths will be included in your timetable if you have not achieved a GCSE at grade 4 or above in these subjects when you start your course.
Teaching and assessment methods throughout the course are varied to meet
all learning styles and enhance engagement, this will include lectures,
workshops, personal development sessions, case studies, group work, project
work, visits and flipped learning via digital tools and virtual learning
environments.
You will complete 60 hours of work experience over the academic year.
This will allow you to develop employability skills, behaviours, attitude and
confidence that will be needed to prepare for T level industry placement at
Level 3 and the world of work. You will also benefit from a weekly
employability skills session and study a suite of bespoke work skills.
Following the successful completion of the T level Foundation Business
Study Programme, you will progress onto the T Level (Business) Management and
Administration two- year course at Level 3. Alternatively, you may wish to progress onto an alternative Level 3
vocational programme, an apprenticeship, or employment.
