Entry to this course requires GCSE English Language and Maths at a grade 3. You will need to have completed the Level 1 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance.

For students who have achieved a grade 4 in GCSE English Language and Maths, there is a fast-track route to Level 2 available. This means they can skip Level 1 and go directly onto Level 2.

For this qualification, you will complete the following assessments: 

  • One online multiple-choice assessment for each unit  
  • One practical assessment for each unit 

Gain hands-on experience in real-life industry settings! 

For this course you will complete compulsory work experience for two weeks, where you’ll dive into the world of work and gain the skills employers are looking for. You will: 

  • Get hands-on and work on real projects.
  • Boost your confidence and learn how to plan tasks, meet deadlines, and make smart decisions. 
  • Collaborate with professionals and see how great ideas come to life when people work together.
  • Understand how to maintain a safe and productive work environment. 
  • Be part of a workplace that values diversity and promotes equality.

With this, you’ll have hands-on experience to showcase on your CV, showing your industry skills to employers.

After completing this course, you’ll be ready to pursue:  

  • Progression to our Level 3 Motor Vehicle course.  
  • Apprenticeships in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, Automotive Electrical and Electronics and Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle). 
  • Roles such as Trainee Mechanic, Vehicle Service Technician and Workshop Assistant in a garage or dealership.
