You’ll gain a solid understanding of vehicle health and safety, fault diagnosis, and working with the latest tools and equipment, while also having the opportunity to specialise in areas such as electric vehicles and climate control systems. Whether you’re interested in traditional vehicles or the exciting world of electric cars, this qualification will ensure you’re equipped for the challenges of a fast-evolving automotive industry.

Core modules: 

  • Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Engine 
  • Diagnosing and rectification of vehicle electrical system faults 
  • Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Faults 
  • Carrying out Non-High Voltage Operations On, Near or With and Electric Vehicle 

You will need to have successfully completed a Level 2 Motor Vehicle qualification.

For this qualification, you will complete the following assessments: 

  • One online multiple-choice assessment for each unit  
  • One practical assessment for each unit 

Once you complete this course you’ll have plenty of exciting options to take your career further. You could continue your learning with an Advanced Apprenticeship, or even go for higher qualifications like the Level 4 in Vehicle Maintenance or Electric Vehicle Maintenance.

If you’re interested in specialising, you could move into roles like a Diagnostic Technician, Master Technician, or EV Technician. If you’re entrepreneurial, starting your own business, like an independent repair garage or a mobile service, could be a great option too. You might even choose to move into management roles, such as Workshop or Service Manager.

If you want to keep learning, you can explore further studies in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering, which could lead to roles in design, research, or development. This qualification will really set you up for a rewarding and flexible career in the ever-changing automotive industry.
