Overview

Our City & Guilds level 3 course gives you a high level of knowledge and occupational skills in the plumbing industry and gives you the platform to progress to further vocational learning or employment.

It will prepare you to enter a plumbing apprenticeship programme where you can be recognised by the industry as a competent plumbing and domestic heating engineer.

Key Info

You will learn and develop practical skills required to complete common tasks in plumbing.

Core units:

  • Structure of the construction industry
  • Fundamental safe working practices
  • Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
  • Site preparation for working in the construction industry
  • Above ground drainage
  • Copper, plastic pressure & low carbon steel pipework
  • Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems
  • Plumbing science

Please note that you will be required to wear safety boots with steel toe caps and hi-vis vest when working in the College workshops.

The course is assessed by continuous practical assessments with written knowledge questioning for each unit.

Your course may include work experience or a work placement that could lead to the offer of a part-time or casual work, or you might work outside of your studies. Our students benefit from local site visits and trips to construction companies.

After successful completion of the course, you will be prepared to move into further study or employment in plumbing and construction. Dependent upon experience, a plumber has the potential to earn anywhere between £12K and £40K per year, so the time to train in plumbing has never been better.

This is representative of the most common fees scenario, but actual fees can vary depending on a number of factors. Please contact us if you need more guidance.
