This course provides you with a comprehensive introduction to the essential principles and practices of IT security. Covering foundational topics such as threat identification, security frameworks, network protection, and incident response, this program prepares you for a variety of entry-level roles in IT security or further study in cybersecurity. Through hands-on labs, real-world scenarios, and a project, you will gain practical experience in securing IT environments.
This short course can be delivered as part of a longer programme (HNC) or completed as a standalone module. It is delivered through a combination of face-to-face and online delivery sessions.
The assessment will range between written assignments, group work, and individual and group presentations.
Each module is worth 15 credits. If you successfully complete one, two or three modules, you will receive a Certificate of Unit Credit (CoUC) upon completion of the individual units. If you finish 8 units, you will awarded a HNC. You can progress onto other units, and then onto a HNC or HND.
