  Overview

This short course is designed to develop your workplace skills and competencies critical for a successful career in information technology. Focusing on communication, teamwork, project management, and ethical considerations, this program develops real-world skills through collaborative projects, case studies, and industry simulations. You will gain both the soft and technical skills needed to excel in the dynamic IT industry.

You will explore communication skills and critical thinking and be involved in tasks that involve
teamwork, planning, and problem-solving.  This short course can be delivered as part of a longer programme (HNC) or as a standalone module.  It is delivered through a combination of face-to-face and online delivery sessions.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills in various IT contexts, including writing, presenting, and listening.
  • Work effectively within teams, utilizing collaboration tools and applying conflict resolution strategies.
  • Understand and apply basic project management principles to plan and execute small IT projects.
  • Navigate ethical issues in IT, understanding legal and regulatory frameworks and making responsible decisions.
  • Create a professional portfolio showcasing technical and soft skills and outlining personal career goals.

The assessment will range between written assignments, group work, and individual and group presentations. 

Each module is worth 15 credits.  If you successfully complete one, two or three modules, you will receive a Certificate of Unit Credit (CoUC) upon completion of the individual units.  If you finish 8 units, you will awarded a HNC.  You can progress onto other units, and then onto a HNC or HND.

HE Tuition: £1,000.00 per academic year
