Ambition Hub Development Day Shapes Future Programme at Bradford College
Hope Business Park in Bradford was abuzz with activity yesterday as stakeholders, employers, students and tutors gathered to design Bradford College’s unique Ambition Hub programme.
The collaborative event was led by Furkan Uddin, Head of Department at Bradford College, who brought together teaching teams from eight curriculum areas, together with students and employers to share their vision for the September 2024 / 2025 programme.
Ambition Hub is a structured study programme, designed specifically to address local skills priorities and provides clear progression routes for students into higher education, apprenticeships or employment. Representatives from Bradford Bulls, Dance United, Kidsplanet, the RAF, West Yorkshire Police and CTE SkillsHouse participated in a number of tasks throughout the day to ensure that the course meets the evolving needs of students and employers.
The SkillsHouse CTE team are delighted to be in partnership with Bradford College as part of the Ambition Hub. The team told us:
We’re supporting the curriculum leads in developing employer led curriculum, ensuring key skills are embedded for the next 2 years.
We will work closely together to develop masterclasses/employer led projects and enhancing young people’s life skills with digital badges that are endorsed by Bradford employers.
Our joint ambition is to continue to upskill young people, so they stand out from the crowd.’
One of the key principles underpinning the curriculum for Ambition Hub is to allow young people to be able to visualise potential career paths, understand what they entail, and set clear goals for the future. By giving them a chance to explore these opportunities early, means they can then make informed career decisions and it also reduces the chances of regret later.
Ambition Hub students benefit from:
A vocational qualification at Level 3 in their chosen sector
Sector specific masterclasses
160 hours of work experience
Residential trip
Masterclasses on skills like leadership, collaboration and resilience
Cross course networking with other Ambition Hub students
An employer set project to deepen sector knowledge
Digital badges and certificates along the way
Furkan Uddin highlighted the programmes impact on both students and the local job market. He told us:
“Students are at the heart of what we do. By addressing and plugging employment and skills gaps such as leadership, resilience, collaboration, we can show students where their skills fit in the local employment market.”
“This programme makes it easier for young people to identify areas they’re passionate about and explore all related careers. Today’s feedback shows that students have built their confidence and feel more aware of their career choices and the roles that are available to them.”
