We’ve been teaching Ophthalmic Dispensing at Bradford College for over 70 years. Our tutors are qualified dispensing opticians and Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) external examiners, meaning your training is delivered by experts in the field.
Whether you’re new to the field of Ophthalmic Dispensing, or are already working at an optical practice, our undergraduate degree and Level 6 blended diploma will qualify you as a dispensing optician with plenty of room to progress in your career.
Learning will take place in our industry standard laboratories and clinical suites at our brand-new Garden Mills campus. With new equipment such as the Intuitive Colorimeter Wave machines, this new optical diagnosis technology allows learners to practice clinical diagnosis decision making.
Once qualified you can apply to for a Fellowship of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and become a General Optical Council Registered Dispensing Optician.
A number of past students have gone on to score the highest national results in their ABDO final qualifying exams. You can also gain additional certifications from us by taking our Low Vision Honours or Contact Lens Certificate.
Our extensive Garden Mills refurbishment was the result of £5.8m funding receied from The Office for Students (OfS) Higher Education Capital Fund with a £1.1m College contribution. We were one of only five institutions nationally to receive the maximum allocation.
